2011 Honda Accord

By now, everyone knows plenty about the Honda Accord - it's affordable, super reliable and holds its value better than most other cars. But the Accord isn't exactly the car you'd pick for a night on the town, right? Well, that might be changing. With the right options and the car's slightly revised look for 2011, the Honda Accord comes off like much more than just another dependable family sedan.

Here are five reasons to consider the 2011 Honda Accord.

1. Updated Look

For 2011, the Accord gets a few minor updates. New wheels and an updated front end with a wider grille and extra chrome give the Accord a more upscale look than before. Also, there are revised taillights and the addition of some trunk mounted reflectors on the sedan. The 2011 model doesn't look dramatically different, but the subtle styling changes help keep the Accord looking fresh. There's also a new SE trim level for the sedan, which is basically an LX-Premium with leather.

2. Improved Fuel Economy

With better aerodynamics and a few engine and transmission improvements, the four-cylinder Accord with an automatic transmission is now rated at 23 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. That's pretty good for a sedan as big as the Honda Accord.

3. Newly Available Features

The Accord can now be outfitted with features that make it feel like much more than just a reliable sedan. When equipped with a V6 engine, the EX-L Coupe now has steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, and all Coupes and EX sedans get a USB port for connecting your iPod or other music player. Also, a rear parking camera and memory functions for the power driver's seat are new for 2011.

4. Lots of Variety

The 2011 Honda Accord is available as a coupe or sedan, and the interior can be as sparse or as luxurious as you want. Trim levels are many and include the base LX and LX Premium which adds features like a power driver's seat, alloy wheels and one-touch windows. The SE model adds leather to the LX Premium, and all EX models get a more powerful four cylinder engine, sunroof, six-disc CD changer, USB port and 17-inch wheels. The EX-L adds leather and a few other conveniences like XM radio. The EX V6 upgrades to a 3.5-liter V6 engine, and gets a few extras like fog lights and dual exhaust outlets. The fully loaded Accord EX-L V6 has all that plus features like heated seats, Bluetooth, 10-way power driver's seat and a power passenger's seat. Also, all EX-L models can add a navigation system.

5. Fun to Drive

Honda has a rich racing heritage and there's a hint of that in this Accord. The steering, brakes and suspension all provide plenty of feedback for the driver making the car somewhat entertaining to drive. Also, the V6 makes 271 horsepower, which is decent for its class. Of course adding the V6 means a slight drop in fuel economy, but it makes the Accord feel more sophisticated overall.
