2011 LA Auto Show Preview Video
The Los Angeles Auto Show is one of the most important automotive events of the year. This year, the show's organizers are promising 20 world debuts, plus at least 30 North American introductions.
With the glitz of Hollywood nearby, there's an emphasis on luxury vehicles, like the new Lexus GS. Cadillac is launching its new flagship, the XTS, along with a whole dashboard-full of modern infotainment tech. Infiniti is pulling the wraps from its new seven-passenger JX crossover. Mercedes-Benz is also bringing the high-performance AMG version of its new M-Class SUV.
One thing that makes the LA Auto Show unique is the presentation of the Green Car of the Year awards. Vying for the green car title are the Toyota Prius V, Ford Focus Electric, VW Passat TDI, Mitsubishi i and the Honda Civic Natural Gas.
For those seeking performance thrills, the show will feature the North American debut of the next-generation Porsche 911, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible, the intriguing Ford Fiesta ST and the Subaru BRZ STI concept. This latter car is the result of a joint project with Toyota. There's also a sporty Abarth version of the FIAT 500 subcompact. The Abarth name is better known in Europe, where it's held in high regard for giving Fiats the "double espresso" treatment.
The 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show is displaying around 1,000 new models and AutoTrader.com will be reporting live from the show starting November 16. For anyone thinking of coming downtown to see it all out for themselves, the show runs from November 18 until November 27, 2011 - and is even open on Thanksgiving Day.
