Take a good look at what's on the road these days and it's pretty safe to say hybrids aren't going anywhere anytime soon. The midsize class has been on board now for a short while, and the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid remains a top choice. Here are five reasons to save big with an Accord Hybrid.

Impressive MPG

For a "midsize" hybrid, the Accord Hybrid delivers "compact"-hybrid numbers at the pump. Honda says you'll see a combined 48 miles per gallon, a very impressive rating. In fact, that number is best in its class. Of course, any time you get close to that magic 50 mpg number, you're getting some serious savings at the pump.

Serious Safety

As far as safety goes, Honda gives you a safety technology package called Honda Sensing, which comes standard. It includes lane-keeping assist and even adaptive cruise control. For most, that should seal the deal; but if that doesn't reassure you, you should feel safe knowing the Accord Hybrid has a 5-star overall government crash-test rating.

Attractive Design

Honda did a phenomenal job with the design. This Accord looks just as good as any. It has standard LED taillights, 17-inch alloys to guide you, and bold body lines that all come together to make this hybrid attractive from just about every angle.

Ample Interior Space

Let's talk room and space. Whether it be headroom or legroom, it's pretty abundant. That goes for both the front and back. But back-seat comfort really shines, especially on longer trips. If you're headed on a road trip, you can store your bags in the roomy 13.5 cu-ft. trunk and get ready to hit the highway.

Engaging Drive

Bottom line: When you hit the accelerator, the Accord hybrid moves. Honda gave it a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder paired with not one but two electric motors. The end result is a total of 212 horsepower. Now take that power, add strong handling, and the Accord Hybrid becomes one of the most engaging hybrids to drive.

Autotrader Says

We all know the Honda brand is extremely reliable. Tack on reassuring safety and very impressive savings on gas, and that makes it hard to pass on a test spin in the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid.
