Of all the success stories Chrysler has experienced in recent years, one of the biggest has been the introduction of the Ram pickup for 1994. The Solstice is Pontiac's new two-seat roadster. Built on GM's new rear-wheel-drive compact sports car platform named "Kappa," Solstice is the first model to be built on this platform, which will also be the basis for the upcoming Saturn Sky. The Solstice was first shown in concept form at the North American International Auto Show 2002 and has gone from concept to production in just three years. In January, 2001, Volvo unveiled a concept it called the Volvo Adventure Concept Car (ACC). The concept was designed to gauge customer reaction to a possible sport-utility vehicle coming from the Swedish automaker. Apparently the reaction was good, and with great fanfare, the XC90 debuted at the 2002 Detroit Auto Show.
