The 2011 Cruze has one of the highest quality cabins in its class, good performance and a roomy interior that reminds reviewers of larger, more expensive vehicles. One of the highest compliments you can pay a car is to say it feels more expensive than it is, and that's the case with the Cruze versions I drove, writes the Chicago Tribune. Chevrolet has done a lot right here. "When compared to this segment's traditional leaders, the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, the Cruze is fully competitive (or even better) in terms of design and driving dynamics." -- Edmunds "This is a pretty darn good little car that's suitable for most of the occasions of everyday life. It's decent-looking, has a nice interior, generally sips fuel yet still has a hint of punch from the turbo and is a significant step forward for Chevrolet." -- AutoWeek "The automotive landscape is bookended by those buyers who want their cars to be fun and those who want them to use as little fuel as possible. These two goals are usually at odds with each other, but every now and then, they can coexist peacefully. Unexpected case in point: the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco, which improves on the Cruzes fuel efficiency not through expensive and heavy hybrid technology but by enhancing aerodynamics, reducing mass, and optimizing the powertrain. Fortunately, all three measures improve driving enjoyment while theyre at it." -- Car and Driver

Quiet, comfort and luxury are the impressions you get from behind the wheel of the Chevrolet Equinox. The tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and power-adjustable seat height make finding a comfortable driving position simple, and rear-seat legroom benefits from the flexible seating configuration. Plus, the ice-blue ambient lighting, and the surfeit of storage areas make you forget you're not in a luxury crossover. The 2010 Chevy Equinox features the most stylish, most contemporary interior in the category. It's also the best-looking interior we've ever seen in a bow tie-badged car. The Equinox has a luxury-grade interior. More than a looker, the Equinox is also notably quiet and roomy. This Equinox has an active noise cancellation system (which counters sound waves with sound waves) as standard equipment. One of the roomiest rear seating areas also features seats that slide forward nearly eight inches to provide for even more cargo room in back. All models have a six-speed automatic transmission, while an eco mode on models with the four-cylinder engine alters shift points to improve fuel economy. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags dual frontal airbags, head curtain side airbags and pelvic-thorax seat-mounted side airbags - plus four-wheel disc brakes with electronic stability control and traction control. Safety and convenience are enhanced with standard OnStar, while XM Satellite Radio provides added entertainment value.

The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse delivers a surprisingly smooth ride, has adept handling and offers strong acceleration with very respectable gas mileage. We tested our Traverse on an enclosed track running a series of obstacle-avoidance tests. Driven back-to-back against the Toyota Highlander, the Traverse exhibited superior capabilities in almost every situation. In one test, we accelerated to 45 miles per hour and, without braking, executed a quick left-right maneuver on wet pavement around an orange pylon strategically placed to represent a sudden obstacle in the road. The StabiliTrak stability control system worked so efficiently it made small work of the test, allowing us to return immediately to our lane without any loss of control. Although you'll never know it until you have to use it, this technology could very well save your life. It drastically improves the Traverse's ability to remain composed in even the most radical emergency maneuvers. Tasteful design, high-quality materials and one of the most accommodating interiors in the class are the hallmarks of GM's newest crossover SUV. Second-row seats that slide fore and aft improve leg room while permitting easy entry into the third-row seat. And, unlike many third-row seats, the Traverse's can actually accommodate two adults in comfort while affording them full side-curtain airbag protection. Storage bins and cup holders abound, and there is enough room behind the third-row seat to accommodate two golf bags. Chevrolet has also gone to great lengths to silence the Traverse's cabin, which is remarkable quiet, even at highway speeds.

If you like to keep expenses down but don't want to sacrifice any helpful necessities, the Entourage may be a good common-sense choice. Shoppers who demand abundant safety features should note that the Entourage contains six airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), a tire-pressure monitor and Electronic Stability Control. No, Hyundai isn't alone in providing a 60-40-split third-row seat that folds into the floorspecifically, into the cargo well at the rear. Even so, it's a feature that adds storage utility. Each side of the seat easily folds down into the cargo well, taking up that space as it creates an almost-flat load floor. A foldaway center tray table contains four cupholders: two for front occupants and two for the second row. Twin captain's chairs are installed in the second row, along with a three-place 60-40-split back seat for seven-passenger capacity. Dual power sliding doors, 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, automatic temperature control and a power driver's seat are included in the SE edition.

There's a lot to like about the 2010 Chevy Equinox, but the bold exterior styling is particularly noteworthy. We're fans of the big, complex headlights, two-bar grille and clean but aggressive lower fascia. Moving around to the side, we're partial to the big fender flares, the sharp crease and the overall proportions. Out back, our eyes are drawn to the perfectly sized, crisply styled tail lights. If you want to call it the best-looking vehicle in the segment, you won't hear any argument from us.

The 2011 Chevrolet Aveo, a smartly styled subcompact, offers excellent fuel economy, a long list of standard features and a bargain-basement price. The Aveo's appeal extends to budget-conscious first-time buyers, anyone on a limited income and unhappy SUV owners looking for an affordable and fuel-efficient way of getting to and from the office. Available as a sedan or sporty five-door hatchback, the Aveo's uncommonly high roof means tall occupants can sit comfortably in both front and rear, a major bonus for those who might stay clear of some small cars due to their cramped interiors. Saving on fuel bills is high on many folks' lists and Aveo buyers are obviously looking for this benefit. The LT with automatic transmission rewards you with 25 mpg city and 34 mpg highway, depending upon road conditions and driving style.
