A new model for 2009, the Kia Borrego is a rugged body-on-frame SUV that seats seven passengers and has plenty of towing capability. Two engine choices for the Kia Borrego are available: a 3.8L V6 engine powering 276 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque or a 4.6L V8 engine generating 337 hp and 323 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are available with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The six-cylinder trims are coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission, while the V8 trims get a six-speed automatic transmission. Kia Borrego standard features indicate the V6 trims have a towing capability of 5,000 pounds and the V8 trims have a whopping 7,500 pounds of towing strength. EPA estimated fuel economy ratings stand at 17 mpg city/21 mpg hwy and 19 mpg combined driving with the rear-drive V6 trims, and go down to 15/20/17 mpg with the 4WD V8 trims. Standard safety features include traction and stability control, antilock disc brakes, hill assist control, downhill brake control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor.
