The 2008 Dodge Caliber ? available in SE, RXT and R/T trim levels ? is a five door, five passenger Hatchback/Station Wagon combo, featuring the styling of a Wagon and a Sport Utility Vehicle wrapped into one. The Caliber is designed with economy and sportiness in mind, equipped with a 148 horsepower 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine (or a 158 horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder as an option). The top of the line R/T features a 172 horsepower 2.4-liter. Buyers have the choice between a standard 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 2-speed CVT transmission.
