For Sale on AutoTrader: 1960 Chevrolet Wagon from an MTV Show
They say that success in Hollywood is all about who you know. We're always here to help, so if you're looking for an 'in', we may have found the perfect ride for you. After all, what could be better than a vehicle that has had more TV screen time than half of Los Angeles' aspiring actors?
For sale right now on AutoTrader is a 1960 Chevrolet Parkwood wagon that was used to film the MTV show The Hard Times of RJ Berger.
The Chevy got a big break from its owner, Tremor Temchin, who is a writer on the show. "We had some characters that were a hip hop, low rider kind of group," Temchin said about his car's appearance on RJ Berger, "So I thought it would be fun to write the car into the show."
In the show, a gang befriends the main character and the group is often seen cruising around in the Chevy wagon. The car is featured in several episodes and it has had some pretty extensive screen time. Tamchin, of course, has access to all the episodes where the car is featured and can show footage to anyone interested in the car's scenes.
The Chevrolet Parkwood is the early wagon version of the iconic Bel Air sedan, and was only offered for three years in the late 50's and early 60's. After the Parkwood model designation was retired, the body style's name was changed to the Bel Air wagon to help avoid confusion.
Temchin found the car at a swap meet in Southern California, where he said he fell in love with the design. While the outside looked great, the MTV writer said he found the car's mechanics left a lot to be desired. Over the next few years, the car's engine, brakes, electronics and suspension underwent some serious restoration.
The style of car is referred to as a resto-mod by enthusiasts- meaning the car has undergone some hot-rod style modifications but care was taken to maintain the feel of the original vehicle. The most noticeable change on this Parkwood is its stance. The car is equipped with a special air bag suspension system that can raise and lower the car.
