For Sale on AutoTrader: Funkmaster Flex Ford Mustang
For sale right now on AutoTrader is one of two 2006 Ford Mustangs that were modified for Funkmaster Flex.
Flex is most famous for his work as a DJ and music producer, but in recent years, he has taken his talents to the automotive world as well. Flex has even been commissioned by Ford to modify some of its cars as a publicity move.
This red Mustang has been equipped with thousands of dollars worth of aftermarket modifications that set it apart from the herd. Strapped to the Mustang's 4.6 Liter V8 engine is a Whipple supercharger that boosts performance to 525 horsepower.
Inside, the Mustang has more televisions than it does seat belts. The car has been equipped with five screens: two in the trunk, one in the dashboard and one in each headrest. The rest of the interior has been changed out for a custom red on black look that matches the rest of the car.
Flex had two Mustangs modified this way, the first of which belonged to his wife, and was black with red stripes. That car sold at the Barrett Jackson classic car auction in Las Vegas for $300,000, where the proceeds from the sale were going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
According to James Taylor, who works at Black's Automotive Group, this car was Flex's personal ride and is being sold on consignment, so it is being listed at a much more reasonable $29,995.
Estimating the value on a car like this can be tricky, normally a car with so many expensive modifications (The supercharger kit alone costs around $5,000) doesn't see a big jump in value, but because of this car's celebrity past and the professional way in which it was upgraded, it is sure to see some increased value.
KBB estimates the value of a normal Ford Mustang GT at around $22,500, which means there is around a $7,000 price increase for the Funkmaster Flex modifications.
