Scion's revamped xB wagon gets a new platform, new styling, and a more substantial look in its second generation.

The new xB made its world debut at the 2007 Chicago auto show at McCormick Place.

In April, Scion says, the more "sinister" second-gen xB will go on sale. The new vehicle borrows cues from the t2B concept shown at the 2005 New York auto show, Scion says.

The new vehicle is a foot longer, with a wheelbase four inches longer than before and an overall width three inches greater. Sixteen-inch wheels and a lower ride height have created better ride comfort, according to the Toyota brand's official release.

Scion's outfitted the new xB with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine from the tC worth an extra 55 horsepower, now at 158 hp total. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed sequential automatic.

The cabin gains some flexibility - the front passenger seat now reclines fully, and the second-row seats have trays underneath for secure storage for laptops, cameras, and the like.

Standard features include six airbags and a 160-watt audio system with iPod connectivity built in. Power windows/locks/mirrors, keyless entry, and anti-lock brakes with stability control are also standard.
