Hawaii 5-0 is proving to be one of the most popular new shows this fall and considering the risk of the big shoes it had to fill, that’s quite an accomplishment. Fans of the original series, which aired from 1968 to 1980 and starred Jack Lord, may notice a few nods throughout in terms of cars. For instance, the “new” Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) is seen working on the 1974 Mercury Marquis used in the original series – that was first McGarrett car after the ‘68 Mercury Park Lane that he drove. Chances are viewers won’t see the resurrection of the Ford LTDs that were so often part of police chases in the cop drama set on Oahu. Here, however, are some of the vehicles that will whiz across the screen.
2010 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT Coupe
Steve McGarrett and Danny “Danno” Williams drive around in this coupe (with blue police lights on the dash) to investigate terrorist suspects.
McGarrett and Williams fittingly infiltrate the North Shore surfing community in a rugged old jeep from the early ‘80s. (CJ models were replaced in 1987 by the Wrangler.)
2009 Ferrari California
The ladies love the silver 7-speed V8 that McGarrett and Williams drive to a gala, where they’re trying to track down a mob ring from the mainland.
Harley Davidson Cross Bones Motorcycle
Agent Chin Ho Kelly cruises around Honolulu on this chopper marked with skull and crossbones.
Honda 450 Series Motorbike and Yamaha 250 Series Motorbike
McGarrett and Kelly make good speed on these motorbikes.
Hawaii 5-0 airs Monday nights at 10/9 c on CBS and on cbs.com
