Toyota's World Debut of the All-New Sienna is a Breakaway Hit

Media days at a major auto show are usually filled with flashy concept car reveals and high horsepower sports cars making their debut, but today at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the media crowded in droves around the Toyota booth to witness the world debut of the Toyota Sienna Minivan. Whatever your opinion of minivans, there are over 12 million of them on the road today and they continue to be a bread-and-butter product for the key players - Toyota, Honda and Chrysler.

In the current minivan wars, this round goes to the new 2011 Sienna. Toyota's third generation remake will bring a tear of joy to soccer moms everywhere. If not for all the car's improvements then for this feature alone: A rear-seat Dual View Entertainment Center with two side-by-side displays that either create a seamless 16.4-inch widescreen image or split the individual screens for two separate DVDs to play simultaneously. Ah, everybody back there is happy.

What's under the hood is as impressive. There are two new engines -- a 3.5-liter V6 or 2.7-liter four cylinder engine that reportedly gets 26 MPG.

And the available amenities increase as your pocketbook is emptied -- depending on the model you choose -- Sienna grade, LE, SE, XLE or Limited. Some of the highlights are the Panorama Camera rear monitor that gives you a 180 degree visual around your car, second-row captain's chairs with a 23-inch moving radius and lounger-like leg and foot support and available all-wheel drive. And both rear seat rows reconfigure easily and efficiently to make a major cargo hold.

So another generation of minivans is born and beginning in February of 2010, Toyota can easily claim their role as reigning monarch.
