Pickup trucks are a staple of American life. Whether buyers are using them to tow trailers, haul loads, go off-roading or just drive around town, Americans buy millions of pickups annually, making them some of the most popular vehicles on the road. But in order to sustain such significant volumes, automakers must provide deep discounts and strong incentives, offering cash back, low financing and lease deals. We've rounded up some the best deals on pickups, giving shoppers a competitive edge.

 

Ford F-150

The most popular pickup in America is available with several major incentives throughout October. The best deals are on the pickup's Super Cab and Super Crew models, which offer $2,000 cash back on all purchases, plus an extra $1,000 cash back to buyers who finance through Ford Credit. Ford is also offering low financing rates to qualified buyers, including 2.9 percent for 36 months and 3.9 percent for 48 months. While similar offers are available on Regular Cab models, the truck's base cash back offer is lowered to $1,500.

 

Chevrolet Avalanche

While many pickup buyers are looking for no-frills transportation for hauling or towing, the Avalanche combines some of the comforts of a large SUV with the practicality of a pickup. Starting just under $37,000, the base-level Avalanche LS features a standard 6-speed automatic transmission, Bluetooth, a USB hookup for MP3 players and dual-zone climate control. The upscale LTZ includes a navigation system, rearview camera and leather upholstery with heated and cooled front seats for around $10,000 more. Since the four-door truck is nearing the end of its life cycle, Chevrolet is offering large incentives on it for October, including $4,000 cash back or $1,000 cash back and 60 months of zero-percent financing for qualified buyers.

 

GMC Sierra

GMC's large Sierra pickup offers a dizzying array of body styles and engine sizes and nearly as many different incentive packages. Consumers purchasing most Sierra 1500 models, including the fuel-saving Sierra Hybrid, will receive between $4,000 and $4,500 cash back through the end of the month, while the heavy-duty Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD offer $3,000 back. GMC is also offering zero-percent financing for 60 months plus $1,000 cash back for qualified buyers who finance their Sierra 1500. Low-mileage lease deals starting at just $299 per month for 39 months are available too. If you prefer the look of the Chevy Silverado, you can get roughly the same deal on it.

 

Nissan Frontier

Buyers looking for a midsize truck will find a plethora of incentives on Nissan's durable Frontier. Through October 31, base-level 2011 Frontier S models are available to qualified buyers with zero percent financing for up to 60 months, 1.9 percent financing for 72 months, or $2,500 cash back. Upscale 2011 Frontier SV and PRO-4X models offer similar financing rates, though cash back increases to a whopping $3,000. Buyers interested in 2012 models will find slightly less generous offers including increased financing rates starting from 0.9 percent and cash back incentives ranging from $1,500 for S models to $2,000 for all other versions of the pickup.

 

Ram 1500

Pickup shoppers interested in Chrysler's large Ram 1500 pickup will find themselves faced with several different incentive options through the end of October. The largest and most appealing is a $5,250 cash back offer, which applies to several of the pickup's most expensive variants, including Big Horn, SLT, Outdoorsman and Lone Star models with five-foot, seven-inch beds. Lower-end models Ram Laramie, ST and Sport models offer between $1,750 and $4,250 cash back, or zero percent financing for up to 60 months and $2,000 cash back for qualified buyers. Heavy-duty Ram 2500 and 3500 models currently offer between $3,000 and $4,500 cash back, depending on the model.

 

Toyota Tundra

Because Toyota uses an independent distributor in the Southeastern United States, consumers in the South get different incentives than buyers in other parts of the country. Through the end of October, Toyota in the Southeast distributor is offering qualified buyers a chance to own the full-size Tundra with zero percent financing for up to 60 months, plus $750 cash back. In the rest of the country, offers range from 0.9 percent financing for up to 60 months to $2,000 cash back on all 2011 Tundra models.
