AutoTrader: In general, hybrids use less gas than their non-hybrid counterparts, no matter what. If you have a shorter commute, cars like the Camry Hybrid, Chevy Volt and the upcoming Prius Plug-In Hybrid may particularly get good fuel economy because they can run in all-electric mode at times.
If you have a long commute or are an aggressive driver, the money you save may not offset the extra price of the hybrid. A Camry with the non-hybrid 4-cylinder engine may be best for those who want a lower priced car that still gets really good fuel economy.
