On Saturday, June 26, a lucky viewer will turn on the TV to watch the 11th annual BET Awards and end up with a brand new car. Ford is giving away a 2012 Focus during the awards show through an exciting sweepstakes involving the social media site Twitter ? and the winner's name will be read on air during the show.
Ford says that the BET AWARDS Ford Focus Sweepstakes kicked off late last week, and invites fans 18 and older to register for the contest online. When entries close, BET will send out a message on Twitter to all qualified entrants, randomly selecting one grand prize winner and announcing his or her name during the award ceremony.
"Our integration into the 'BET AWARDS 11' is the latest example of our commitment to connecting with young urban adults as part of our efforts to heighten awareness for the all-new Ford Focus," said Shawn Lollie, Ford's manager of multicultural marketing. "The opportunity to not only showcase, but to also give away, a Focus during one of the top five cable award show programs was a natural fit for us."
In addition to the sweepstakes, Ford's participation in the awards show will involve a Focus parked on the red carpet during the pre-awards show red carpet festivities. The automaker will also sponsor an exclusive backstage area dubbed the Ford Social Media Lounge, which will provide several top entertainment bloggers with access to celebrities attending the awards show.
Released earlier this year, the 2012 Focus has been a major success for Ford, which is banking on increased small car sales to drive the automaker's global sales targets in the coming years. Thanks to a sharp new design and desirable standard equipment, the 2012 Focus notched 22,303 sales last month ? a big increase over last year when the previous Focus was still on sale.
