• 2013 7 Series is updated with LED headlights, new seats and refined suspension.
  • The 40th anniversary of BMW M is celebrated with M5 and M6.
  • 650i Gran Coupe and Zagato Roadster round out the lineup.

The classic car auctions, races and shows of Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance mark one the world's premier automotive events. While most of the celebration focuses on vintage automobiles, an automaker with as rich a history as BMW certainly has a place among the all-time greats.

This year, the company highlights the updated 2013 BMW 7 Series and a handful of other exciting vehicles. Among them are the M5 and M6, brought along to celebrate the 40th anniversary of BMW M. Also on display is the first ever four-door 6 Series, the 650i Gran Coupe, as well as a one-off roadster designed by the renowned Italian coach builder Zagato.

The appearance at Pebble Beach marks the North American debut of the updated 2013 7 Series. The styling of the flagship sedan is revamped with a new front apron and grille, and new LED headlamps. Inside, the new 7 Series features redesigned front seats and a rear-seat entertainment system with a 9.2-inch display. A 1,200-watt, 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system pumps surround sound throughout the cabin. Underpinning the 2013 7 Series is self-leveling air suspension with new rubber bearings and dampers, which BMW says provide a more comfortable ride.

In honor of the 40th anniversary of M, BMW's in-house motorsports and performance tuner, the M5 and M6 are part of the show. Both of these terrifically powerful vehicles sport turbocharged V8 engines that produce 560 horsepower.

The new 650i Gran Coupe is at Pebble Beach too. This sleek sedan is lower, longer and wider than the 5 Series, and is BMW's first foray into the so-called four-door coupe market currently occupied by such cars as the Mercedes-Benz CLS and the Audi A7.

The Zagato Roadster is BMW's striking, one-of-a-kind two-seat roadster. Hand-crafted in just six weeks, the special project combines the trademark styling cues of both BMW and Zagato. It represents the second recent collaboration between the two firms.

From the unique Zagato Roadster to the flagship 2013 BMW 7 Series luxury sedan (soon be seen on North American roads), BMW's Pebble Beach lineup offers something for all who appreciate the BMW brand.

What it means to you: The new 2013 7 Series--part of BMW's Pebble Beach display--gets revised styling, interior appointments and suspension.
