The color green is sometimes associated with envy, but at the LA Auto Show, green means the latest cutting-edge, highly fuel-efficient vehicles. These are the top green cars we saw in LA.
The Audi Q5 TDI crossover gets two thumbs up for its new clean diesel engine. It premiered with three other Audi diesel models, the A6, A7 and A8 TDI. Audi claims the diesel models get up to 30% better fuel economy than comparable gas-powered versions.
The 2013 VW Jetta Hybrid is a parallel hyrid, which means it can use just its electric motor, its gas engine or a combination of both to power the car.
FIAT goes totally green at the show this year with its 500E electric subcompact. The all-electric model is part of the 500 family, but receives a few subtle styling changes to set it apart from the rest of the lineup.
The 2014 Ford Fiesta with its new 1-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine. The new Fiesta should achieve nearly 40 mpg on the highway--and also gets an Aston Martin-inspired grille like the new Fusion.
And then there's Chevrolet Spark EV, which is surprisingly quick--and quick to charge, too. Chevy claims that the Spark EV can be charged in just 20 minutes.
