The 2013 Hyundai Sonata stars in Hyundai's Stuck Super Bowl commercial. In this ad, a couple repeatedly get stuck behind a series of unpleasant vehicles. Using the Sonata's optional turbocharged engine to speed past each hazard, the announcer says, "it's better to be in front."
The Sonata turbo is indeed a spry car -- especially for an affordable midsize sedan. Its turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine produces 274 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. That helps it scoot from 0-60 mph in around 6.5 seconds, putting it on par with the quickest sedans in its class. Pricing starts around $25,500.
The Sonata also offers two other engine options. The Limited, upscale GLS and sporty SE models all come standard with a 200-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder (without a turbo). The Sonata Hybrid uses a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine as part of its hybrid system, producing 206 hp and getting up to 35 miles per gallon city and 40 mpg on the highway. Pricing for the Sonata Hybrid starts around around $26,500.
