The new Cherokee has styling that is unmistakable Jeep, but has much more visual impact and personality, compared to the classic, boxy Cherokee of old. Jeep claims the new Cherokee will be the most capable off-road performer in its class- a claim that few would dispute based on the Jeep?s longtime image as a go-anywhere, do- anything sport utility.
A 3.2-liter V6 will supply power to the Cherokee mated to a new 9-speed ZF automatic transmission. Jeep has emphasized the fuel economy improvement the new Cherokee will enjoy over the older generation model, which was bigger and heavier. It?s expected that gas mileage will be as much as 45% better than what the original mid-size sport-ute racked up before being discontinued.
The new 2014 Jeep Cherokee should be joining the rest of the Jeep lineup at dealer showrooms later this year.
