• Scion 10 Series models celebrate 10th anniversary
  • Each painted in unique Silver Ignition color
  • Limited to 10,000 total units among all models

Toyota's youth-oriented Scion brand will release several new models soon to commemorate its first 10 years in business. The Scion 10th anniversary models, officially called 10 Series, boast several unique features and a limited production run.

According to Scion, 10 Series models will each be painted a unique Silver Ignition exterior color. In press images, the metallic paint has a blue tint in some light conditions. That will match another exterior feature unique to the 10 Series cars: blue badges. Scion says the brand's front and rear logos will light up in blue when a 10 Series car is unlocked.

All five of Scion's models -- the FR-S, iQ, tC, xB and xD -- will be offered with a 10 Series trim starting in June. The entire 10 Series production run totals a fitting 10,000 units. The newly updated 2014 tC gets the most, at 3,500 units, while the Scion will build 2,500 FR-S 10 Series models. There will be 900 units of the tiny iQ 10 Series, while the xB 10 Series will find 2,100 buyers. Rounding out the model range is the xD 10 Series, which will be limited to just 1,000 units.

Beyond the badges and paint, 10 Series models also boast an illuminated shift knob that Scion describes as "solar-powered." Other features include silver seat belts and an individually numbered interior badge. And the iQ, xB and xD will include darker alloy wheels, giving an even more unique appearance.

"The Scion 10 Series celebrates 10 years of the brand's passionate approach, iconic products and success inviting a new, younger buyer to the Toyota family," said Doug Murtha, vice president of the Scion division. "Scion heads into its second decade revved up by a strong product line that continues to stand out on the road."

Scion's first U.S. models were the xA and first-generation xB hatchbacks. Though technically 2004 models, the two went on sale in select markets in 2003. A nationwide rollout followed the next year.

What it means to you: Most anniversary editions are nothing to get excited about. But the Scion 10th anniversary models add some cool content, such as their unique exterior color and illuminated badges.
