• Base price of $35,100
  • Impressive list of standard equipment
  • Standard V6, navigation and backup camera

Kia announced pricing for its newest model, a large luxury sedan. The base price for the 2014 Kia Cadenza is $35,100, plus an $800 delivery charge. Kia offers only one trim level for the new sedan, but offers a pair of options packages on top of an impressive list of standard features.

Among the standard equipment Kia includes on the Cadenza are a V6 engine and automatic transmission; leather interior trim; heated, power driver and front passenger seats; keyless entry with push-button start; Bluetooth hands-free and a backup camera. Kia's UVO infotainment system with navigation and an 8-inch touchscreen are also included, so shoppers don't have to choose a pricey options package to get these features.

But if you do want something extra, Kia offers two options packages: Luxury and Technology. The Luxury package buys you a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather seats with ventilation for the driver, adaptive HID headlights, a customizable digital instrument cluster and a heated steering wheel. The 2014 Kia Cadenza with the Luxury package is priced at $38,100 plus delivery.

The Technology package is available only in addition to the Luxury package, bringing the price to $41,100. It adds driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection and Kia's first lane departure system. The Technology package also brings 19-inch wheels.

Whether it's the base Cadenza or the top-of-the-line Cadenza with Technology package, the new Kia flagship sedan offers impressive equipment for the money. Kia is taking a chance by moving toward more upscale vehicles, but for shoppers, the move could result in a great deal on a nicely equipped car. If the Cadenza proves popular, Kia is sure to raise the price.

What it means to you: If you're looking for a well-equipped sedan for under $40,000 -- without all the complicated trim levels and overlapping options packages -- consider Kia's newest vehicle, the 2014 Cadenza.
