- Sierra Denali offers upscale features inside and out
- Includes standard 8-inch touchscreen
- 5.3-liter V8 standard; 6.2-liter V8 optional
As usual, the Denali trim level indicates a long list of luxury features and high-end appointments. They start on the outside, where the truck boasts a unique chrome grille, 20-inch wheels and chrome exhaust tips. Also, the Sierra Denali includes body-colored front and rear bumpers.
Inside, the Sierra Denali offers a level of technology rarely seen in pickup trucks. Standard in all Sierra Denali models is an 8-in, center-mounted touchscreen that shows audio and navigation information. The system, which features GMC's IntelliLink infotainment technology, also includes Bluetooth and a whopping five USB ports. Rounding out the Sierra Denali's list of high-tech standard equipment is a Bose audio system.
The Sierra also offers standard luxury features beyond its high-tech gadgets. The front seats are both heated and cooled, while the steering wheel is heated. The truck also has front and rear park assist. And a power sliding rear window gives occupants easy access to the Sierra Denali's bed. Of course, there is also a long list of options, such as hill-descent control and a lane departure warning system.
The Sierra Denali also packs big power under the hood. The standard engine is a 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8. GMC says the engine's 23 miles per gallon highway is better than competitors' V8s or even the Ford F-150's EcoBoost V6.
For drivers who want even more power, the Sierra Denali can deliver. All Sierra Denali models are available with the pickup's 6.2-liter V8, which is expected to produce 420 hp and around 450 lb-ft of torque. The Sierra's standard 4.3-liter V6 won't be offered in the Denali trim level.
With the 2014 Sierra Denali, GMC marks the upscale trim level's 13thyear on the market. A pioneer in the luxury pickup world, the Sierra Denali was quickly joined by high-end competitors such as the Ford F-150 King Ranch and the RAM 1500 Laramie Longhorn.
While GMC has not yet announced pricing for the Sierra Denali, we don't anticipate a huge bump over last year's base figure of around $50,000 with shipping. We expect the Sierra Denali will arrive later this year.
What it means to you: For those interested in a luxury pickup, the 2014 GMC Sierra Denali must be included on any shopping list.
