- Mazda3 pricing announced; will start at $17,740
- More powerful s model starts at $25,390
- New Mazda3 will reach dealers in September
Mazda has announced official pricing for its all-new 2014 Mazda3 compact car. The brand says a base-level version of the small car will start at $17,740 with shipping, while pricing for other trim levels will increase from there.
According to Mazda, that figure is for an i SV sedan with a manual transmission. Shoppers who want a hatchback will have to step up to the i Sport, which starts at $19,740 with shipping. The i Sport hatchback is $500 more than the i Sport sedan -- a price difference that Mazda continues throughout the entire Mazda3 lineup.
Mazda also offers two trim levels above Sport. Touring models start at $20,390 with shipping, while the upscale Grand Touring starts at $23,540. All trim levels are offered in both sedan or hatchback body styles.
Of course, shoppers who want more power will have to pay more. The above prices cover the Mazda3 i, which offers a 155-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. Drivers wishing to step up to the Mazda3 s will find prices starting at $25,390 with shipping. Those drivers will get a 184-hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder -- but they'll have to pick from a Touring or Grand Touring model, as the SV and Sport trims aren't offered on the Mazda3 s.
In addition to announcing base pricing, Mazda also revealed prices for a few important options. The Touring Technology Package, available on i models, costs $1,600 and includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Bose audio. The same $1,600 on s models adds the fuel-efficient i-ELOOP regenerative braking system along with advanced safety features such as lane-departure warning and Smart City Brake Support.
Mazda says the all-new 2014 Mazda3 goes on sale in September. All models -- sedan and hatchback, i and s -- are expected to reach dealers at the same time.
