• Vehicle recognizes driver by name
  • Memory functions recall settings for 10 functions
  • My Car Knows Me solution available on 2014 Infiniti Q50

Infiniti's newest model, the Q50 sedan, is available with extended memory functions that use the vehicle's proximity key to automatically adjust vehicle settings to the driver's preferences. Settings included in the expanded memory-key system tailor the vehicle according to the driver's settings for comfort, performance and safety.

A memory function to recall settings like seat positions for different drivers is a convenient feature offered as optional or standard equipment on a range of vehicles, from luxury models to more mainstream vehicles. Vehicles in households with more than one driver especially benefit; when a driver finds that perfect position, he or she can save it in memory for easy recall later, such as after another driver has adjusted the seat differently. Infiniti calls its memory solution My Car Knows Me. The program literally welcomes its driver by name. It goes beyond seat adjustments, wrapping other functions like climate control, navigation routing and entertainment choices into memory, too.

In all, the memory program includes up to 96 possible settings for 10 different functions. The list depends on how a particular Q50 is equipped. For the Q50 Premium, Q50 S and Q50 Hybrid, the optional Deluxe Touring package brings memory functions for the driver seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors. On all models, engine and transmission settings are recalled using the Q50 model's drive modes. Choices include standard, sport and eco, plus a snow setting for vehicles with an automatic transmission. Also, a personal mode allows the driver to tailor engine and transmission settings according to preference. For models equipped with Infiniti's Direct Adaptive Steering, the driver can also select steering weight and response type. The key will recall those settings automatically.

When the Q50 is equipped with advanced safety and driver-assistance features, the memory function handles personal preferences for these, too. The driver needs to adjust settings for features like lane-departure warning and intervention, blind-spot warning and intervention, adaptive cruise control and backup collision intervention just once. Next time he or she steps into the car, the preferences are automatically set from memory.

The My Car Knows Me solution for the 2014 Infiniti Q50 includes up to four driver profiles split between two proximity keys. For households with more than one driver, the expanded memory program can be a convenient and time-saving feature.

What it means to you: If your next new vehicle will have more than one driver, consider memory functions -- at least for the driver's-seat position. Or, choose the Q50 with My Car Knows Me for more comprehensive automatic adjustments.
