• 2014 Corolla starts at $17,610 with shipping
  • That's around $600 more than the outgoing model
  • Corolla comes in L, LE, S and new LE Eco trim levels

The all-new 2014 Toyota Corolla will start at $17,610 including destination -- a slight increase over last year's base price of around $17,000 with shipping. That's the latest from Toyota, which recently announced the new compact sedan's base price before it begins reaching dealers in September.

According to Toyota, the $17,610 figure is for a base-level Corolla L with a 6-speed manual transmission. In addition to offering a 132-horsepower 1.8-liter 4-cylinder, the Corolla L includes power windows, Bluetooth and little else.

Drivers who want more luxury have to step up to the mid-level Corolla LE, which starts at $19,110 with shipping. That model includes luxuries such as a backup camera, automatic climate control, keyless entry and cruise control. It also boasts Toyota's Entune infotainment system, which uses a 6.1-inch, center-mounted touchscreen.

Drivers who opt for the Corolla S will pay slightly more, just under $20,000 with shipping. But they'll get the LE's features along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and sporty styling cues, such as a bolder front grille and black interior trim.

Toyota is also offering a new Corolla LE Eco, which starts at $19,510. Upgrades include improved aerodynamics -- similar to features on the Chevrolet Cruze Eco and Dodge Dart Aero -- and revised transmission tuning. The result is a fuel economy rating of up to 30 miles per gallon in the city or an impressive 42 mpg in highway driving.

The 2014 Corolla also will come with available Plus and Premium packages for the LE and S trims. The Plus Package will add alloy wheels and rear disc brakes, while the Premium Package boasts leather seating. Major options will include a sunroof for $850 and, for $1,510, a Driver's Convenience Package that features a remote starter and a navigation system.

Toyota says the all-new Corolla will go on sale shortly.

What it means to you: The all-new 2014 Toyota Corolla is sure to be a wild sales success, despite a base price that's $600 higher than last year's model.
