• All-new fourth-generation Escalade
  • Official unveiling scheduled for October 7
  • Two teaser photographs already released

The Cadillac Escalade has a reputation that's even larger than its own sizable proportions. The luxury SUV successfully revived the Cadillac nameplate, drawing new, younger customers -- anxious to elevate their status as well as their driving position -- into Caddy showrooms. After nearly a decade and a half of success with the model, Cadillac will soon reveal the all-new fourth-generation Escalade. In anticipation, the automaker has revealed two teaser images of the vehicle's details.

The first is the less revealing of the two. It shows a trim piece finished in matte silver and stamped with the Escalade name. It appears to be side molding, but until the official 2015 Cadillac Escalade global reveal on October 7, we can't be sure. The shape and finish of the trim piece is telling, though. It's angular in design, suggesting that this latest Escalade will share the sharp, creased shape of other current Cadillac models. And its matte silver finish suggests that shiny chrome may be absent or used more sparingly on this new generation.

The second image is far more revealing. It shows the new Escalade's driver-side headlight, a tall, slender unit with five lenses housed in a chrome bezel. The lenses are almost certainly used to project LED light, the latest in automotive lighting technology. Flanking the headlights, an LED light pipe appears to run alongside the outer edge. This component could be either daytime running lights or turn signals, though it's tough to be sure since none of the lights are energized in the photo.

Fans of the Escalade and the Cadillac brand won't have to wait long to get a better look at the vehicle in its entirety. In fact, its global debut in New York City will include not only more interior and exterior details of the 2015 Cadillac Escalade itself but also an inside look at its development. Indie rock photographer and director Autumn de Wilde created a series of photographs and a film that show a behind-the-scenes view of the design process that resulted in the fourth-generation Escalade. Her media will be revealed along with the luxury SUV itself.

What it means to you: Not much is known about the next-gen Escalade, but a few details can be gleaned from Cadillac's teaser photos. Expect angular exterior styling, plenty of LED lighting and matte silver trim finishes instead of chrome.
