- 2015 Cadillac Escalade unveiled; on sale early next year
- Boasts new exterior styling, all-new interior
- New features include digital gauge cluster, CUE infotainment
Cadillac has officially unveiled the all-new 2015 Escalade. The full-size SUV has been entirely redesigned for the 2015 model year to offer completely new styling, new features and a thoroughly updated interior.
Some of the Escalade's biggest changes are on the outside. While shoppers unfamiliar with the Escalade may not notice a major difference, the latest version offers a more aggressive grille, bolder rear styling with larger taillights and a more muscular side profile. But the Escalade is still uniquely Cadillac, thanks to the brand's enormous badges and edgy styling.
The Escalade is even more thoroughly revamped on the inside. Gone is last year's flat, no-nonsense dashboard and center stack. It's replaced by a handsome new layout featuring bold lines throughout. Capacitive-touch controls, like the ones in Cadillac's latest sedans, are also used. And drivers will enjoy a stylish new steering wheel, along with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
Updates also extend to the Escalade's upholstery. Eager to differentiate the Escalade from its also-new Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon siblings, Cadillac added top-notch, high-end materials. Expect suede accents, small panel gaps and extra sound deadening for a quiet ride.
The latest Escalade also boasts improved technology. Cadillac's CUE infotainment system, for example, is now standard fare. A new, full-color heads-up display that projects onto the SUV's windshield is optional. And the Escalade's new digital gauge cluster is reconfigurable. That means drivers can choose the information they want to see with the push of a button on the steering wheel.
Changes to the 2015 Escalade continue under the hood. While the latest Escalade uses a 6.2-liter V8, just like the current model, the engine is all-new. It boasts 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, which is an increase of 17 hp and 43 lb-ft. The new engine also uses new technology to improve fuel efficiency, though Cadillac hasn't announced gas mileage numbers.
If you're interested in the latest Escalade, don't expect a long wait. Cadillac says it should be available early next year. We'll have more information on pricing and gas mileage as the Escalade gets closer to reaching dealers.
What it means to you: The 2015 Cadillac Escalade offers new styling, new features, a new engine and all the interior trimmings of a high-tech luxury SUV.
