• The ultimate vehicle for triathletes in competition
  • Designed with input from Olympic champions
  • Comes with shower, massage chair and other features

Triathletes, rejoice! LifeTime Fitness, a nationwide health club company, has joined with Team Toyota to build a custom 2013 RAV4 with specialized features to help athletes relax, recover and replenish after competition. Toyota-sponsored triathletes Sarah Haskins, Andy Potts and Hunter Kemper -- all former U.S. Olympic Triathlon team members -- helped to plan and design this vehicle, which offers a fully functioning hot-water shower for post-race rinse and repeat. All three sports -- running, swimming and cycling -- are well represented in this unique and innovative SUV.

The LifeTime Fitness RAV4 debuted last week at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, where it received praise from car enthusiasts and fitness experts alike. Beyond its big reveal in Sin City, the LifeTime Fitness RAV will now support Team Toyota athletes at select triathlon events around the country. "I loved contributing to this fun project and can't wait to see this car at the finish line," Kemper said.

Built at Toyota's Motorsports Technical Center in Southern California, this "Iron RAV" comes with a dual-bike roof rack, spin dryer, wet suit drain, front-seat shiatsu massage, rear-seat refrigerator, juice blender and several compartments for storing healthy snacks and athletic gear. In other words, an athlete can dry his clothes, take a shower, consume calories and have aching muscles rubbed down, all in the comfort and privacy of this vehicle, only minutes after an event. And on the technology side, there's a built-in iPad for athletes to review performance data and stats, as well as a wireless Bluetooth speaker for piping music within or around the vehicle.

"This fun RAV4 brings together a triathlete's passion for a healthy, active lifestyle and the drive for pushing ourselves to race faster and smarter," Haskins said. "The cutting-edge tools incorporated in the vehicle will help us continue to build our racing skills, while enabling us to relax a little too."

Now that's what we call "training intelligence" taken to a whole new level.

What it means to you: Does the LifeTime Fitness RAV4 make you want to go out and buy the normal version of this capable SUV? Innovative customization such as this helps people see the true potential of a vehicle. If you're an athlete or have active lifestyle aspirations, the personality of the RAV4 may be a good fit for you.
