• Ford has revealed its updated 2015 Expedition
  • Offers new features, revisions inside and out
  • Replaces last year's V8 with a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6

Ford has officially rolled out a heavily revised version of its full-size Expedition SUV. The 2015 Ford Expedition boasts a long list of changes compared to last year's model, from updated exterior and interior styling to a new, more efficient powerplant.

While the 2015 Expedition offers many interior and exterior updates, the biggest news is under the hood. That's because Ford has dropped last year's 5.4-liter V8 in favor of a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, the first V6 ever offered in the full-size SUV. While specifics haven't been confirmed, the engine will likely produce around 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque -- figures that trump last year's V8 numbers by about 55 hp and 55 lb-ft.

Beyond its new engine, the Expedition's biggest change comes to its exterior. That's where the SUV features a revised look that includes a totally new front end, new wheels and an updated rear end with a horizontal crossbar positioned on the tailgate. There are also new wheel designs and more LED lights on the outside.

Inside, the Expedition also includes a litany of changes. There's a new LCD screen in the SUV's gauge cluster, while a larger screen is available in the center control stack. The Expedition also adds a long list of newly available equipment, from adjustable suspension to safety features such as blind spot alert, rear cross-traffic alert, push-button start and a rearview camera.

Pricing for the latest Expedition has not yet been announced, though we wouldn't expect things to increase too much from today's model. That means you should expect to pay around $42,500 with shipping for a base-level Expedition XLT or $45,000 for an extended-length Expedition EL. Upscale versions of either model can easily top $60,000 with options.

What it means to you: The 2015 Ford Expedition offers major revisions to try and remain current in the face of Chevrolet's all-new 2015 Tahoe.
