- New F-150 King Ranch officially revealed
- High-end truck will offer luxury features
- King Ranch slots below luxurious Platinum trim in F-150 lineup
The 2015 Ford F-150 King Ranch has been officially revealed. Ford recently pulled the cover off the high-end pickup, which is based on the all-new, aluminum-bodied F-150 shown earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show.
While Ford hasn't announced many details about the F-150 King Ranch, exterior photos display an upscale look that features many touches not found on the standard F-150. Examples include unique alloy wheels, a 2-tone paint scheme and additional body-colored and chrome accents.
We're not sure what to expect inside the King Ranch, since Ford hasn't released interior photos. But if last year's model is anything to go by, expect luxury-car trimmings, leather surfaces and upscale touches like exposed stitching.
You should also expect a lot of equipment. With a base price of more than $45,000, the 2015 F-150 King Ranch slots near the top of the pickup's range, falling short of only the luxurious F-150 Platinum. Standard features on the 2014 F-150 King Ranch included heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, a remote ignition, a rearview camera and a Sony sound system.
For truck shoppers, the King Ranch name has become synonymous with high-end F-150 models, much in the same way that Denali is the ultimate GMC Sierra pickup from rival automaker General Motors. The F-150 King Ranch has been available since 2001, and its popularity led to the creation of two more models: a Super Duty pickup in 2003 and an Expedition in 2005.
Beyond its new look, the 2015 Ford F-150 King Ranch will also offer some new colors. Ford says the pickup will add Bronze Fire, Ruby Red Metallic and Caribou exterior finishes, along with a new Premium Mesa Brown interior. Each color should be available when the King Ranch goes on sale later this year.
What it means to you: The King Ranch trim level will be among the most luxurious versions of Ford's all-new F-150 pickup truck.
