• Porsche Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS officially revealed
  • New models will offer extra power, improved suspension
  • Boxster and Cayman GTS also include stylistic upgrades inside and out

Porsche's ever-expanding lineup will soon feature two new models. The upscale brand recently revealed the all-new Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS, which add extra performance to the already-sporty Boxster and Cayman lineup.

Based on the highly enjoyable Boxster S and Cayman S, the new GTS models offer a horsepower bump and other revisions. For the Boxster GTS, the power bump brings hp from 315 to 330, while the Cayman GTS increases to 340 horses from the S model's 325. Torque is also increased, reaching 273 lb-ft in the Boxster GTS and 280 lb-ft in the Cayman, increases of 7 lb-ft over the standard models.

Beyond offering a little extra power, the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS include a few other performance upgrades. One is a standard Sport Chrono Package, which gives the cars improved throttle response, a dash-mounted stopwatch, and when equipped with the dual-clutch PDK automatic, launch control. The GTS models also offer Porsche's PASM active suspension as standard equipment.

But the Boxster and Cayman GTS aren't all about performance. They also boast a few stylish upgrades, ranging from standard 20-inch Carrera S wheels to Alcantara trim inside the cabin. GTS models also include a sport exhaust, giving them an improved exhaust note over typical Boxster S and Cayman S models.

Enthusiasts will also appreciate the transmission options on the Boxster and Cayman GTS. Unlike several recent Porsche models that include only Porsche's 7-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic, the Boxster and Cayman GTS will also offer a 6-speed manual with three pedals. That means drivers can still row their own gears if they prefer.

Interested in a Boxster or Cayman GTS? Expect the models to reach showrooms this summer, with prices starting at $74,495 with shipping for a Boxster GTS, or $76,195 including destination for a Cayman GTS.

What it means to you: The Porsche Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS offer the ultimate in performance and driving enjoyment for shoppers who prefer the mid-engine driving experience over the rear-engine 911.
