- Cadillac ATS Coupe will start from $38,990 with shipping
- Two engines will be offered: a turbocharged 4-cylinder and a V6
- All-wheel drive will also be available as an option
Cadillac has officially announced pricing and other details about its upcoming ATS Coupe ahead of the luxury car's launch later this summer. The General Motors luxury brand says the upscale ATS Coupe will start from $38,990 with shipping, a $5,000 increase over the base-level ATS sedan.
One of the reasons for the coupe's big price increase over the sedan is its powertrain. While base-level versions of the ATS sedan include a 202-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, the ATS Coupe's standard powertrain will be a 272-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder -- an engine that's optional on the sedan. Like the sedan, the ATS Coupe will also offer an available 3.6-liter V6, which makes 321 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque.
The ATS Coupe also helps to justify its price increase over the sedan with a completely different, more aggressive look and style. Cadillac says the ATS Coupe is longer, lower and wider than the sedan and notes that the coupe's unique bodywork helps to set apart its trunk, rear fenders and roofline.
According to the automaker, all those changes serve a purpose. Cadillac says the wider track is designed to improve handling, while the updated roofline lowers the car's center of gravity. That makes the ATS Coupe less prone to body roll than its 4-door-sedan stablemate.
While Cadillac has not yet announced full pricing for the ATS Coupe, the automaker notes that the model will also offer optional all-wheel drive in addition to its standard rear-wheel drive. All-wheel-drive versions of the ATS Coupe start at $41,440 with shipping.
We're eager to find out other details about the ATS Coupe, including pricing for the coupe's more powerful V6 version, closer to the model's on-sale date later this summer.
