- Upcoming Jaguar XE officially teased in new photo
- Jaguar's new sedan will take on Audi A4, BMW 3 Series
- Styling looks uniquely Jaguar; features aluminum construction
Jaguar has released an official teaser photo of its all-new XE sedan in anticipation of the car's debut at the Paris Motor Show in October. The photo, which shows us what the car will look like beneath the skin, reveals a fairly clear outline of the sedan's styling.
Decked out with a #FEELXE decal and a few British flags, the XE sedan in the teaser photo certainly has the look of a Jaguar. That's especially true when you consider the narrow headlights, distinctly Jaguar front grille, and long, wide hood that give the car a major on-road presence.
But style isn't the only reason Jaguar has revealed its first XE teaser photo. The automaker is also trying to show off the sedan's aluminum construction, which is designed to save weight and improve fuel economy. Jaguar says the XE's aluminum architecture will eventually make its way to its other models and even a few SUVs from its sister brand, Land Rover.
Still, shoppers interested in checking out the XE are likely interested in the sedan's look. We don't think they'll be disappointed, as the latest Jag has all the style of the brand's XF sedan, just on a slightly smaller scale. That's good news for Jaguar, since the XE will need a unique, handsome look to compete with rivals such as the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class.
Under the hood, we're expecting a variety of powertrains, though Jaguar has not yet confirmed exactly what they'll be. A turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder is likely, along with a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 from the brand's F-Type convertible. Other details will likely be revealed later this year, as the XE draws nearer to its official unveiling in Paris.
What it means to you: The Jaguar XE is the latest entry-level luxury sedan designed to take on major players such as the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4.
