Volkswagen of America has announced a voluntary recall on the 2011 Audi R8 V10 Spyder models. The vehicle's fuel supply line rubs against the heat shield, which could potentially cause a fire or explosion. The recall effects any R8 V10 Spyder built between May 18, 2010 and June 22, 2011.
Audi will begin notifying R8 owners on August 22, 2011. Any vehicles built during the recall period will be repaired free of charge to the owner. Owners may contact Audi for more information.
This recall comes on the heels of another announcement for future R8 owners. Audi recently introduced a new color customization program in North America for customers who want personalize their supercars. Drivers can now order a personalized R8; customizing the exterior and side-blade color, as well as the interior. Check out Audi USA's Facebook page for photos of owner's personal R8 customizations, with some, well, "interesting" interior leather and stitching combinations.
