What's new: The 2012 Aston Martin DBS was the brand's flagship model before it was replaced for 2013 by the more powerful Vanquish. For 2012, it added a "Carbon Edition" that included a host of carbon fiber interior materials.
The now-cancelled DBS served as Aston's flagship since arriving as a 2008 model. While the DBS shared a platform and many styling traits with the DB9, Aston intended for the DBS to offer a sportier driving experience. And it did, thanks to a lower curb weight, firmer suspension and an additional 40 horsepower. That brought the total power figure to 510 horses. The DBS also offered a six-speed manual transmission; a six-speed automatic was optional. While the DBS first came only as a coupe, a convertible - the DBS Volante - joined the lineup for 2010.
Pricing for the 2012 Aston Martin DBS coupe started around $275,000. The DBS Volante added around $15,000 to that figure. That placed the DBS at the top of Aston's price range, above the DB9 and the smaller Vantage. In 2011, Aston added the Virage to fill the gap between the DBS and the $190,000 DB9. Both the Virage and DBS were cancelled after 2012 to make way for the 2013 Vanquish.
