What's new: The 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo enters its tenth year on the market with only minor changes. Front and rear styling is updated slightly, while a new "Edizione Tecnica" package offers a rear wing and several unique colors.
The Lamborghini Gallardo debuted in 2004 as an entry-level model designed to take on the Ferrari F430 and Porsche 911 Turbo. Its lineup has expanded over the years, adding a droptop Spyder, a "Superleggera" performance variant and a litany of special editions. Today's Gallardo will likely be replaced sometime next year.
The current Gallardo offers eight different models. Four are coupes, and four are convertibles. Base-level coupe and convertible models are the two-wheel drive Gallardo LP550-2, which comes with a six-speed manual transmission. All-wheel drive is standard on the mid-range Gallardo LP560-4, which also comes in coupe or Spyder variants but includes an automatic transmission. Topping the coupe range is the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera. The same model is sold as a Spyder called the LP570-4 Performante. Finally, both the Superleggera and the Performante offer this year's Edizione Tecnica special edition package.
The 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo starts around $182,000 for an LP550-2 coupe or $202,000 for an LP560-4. Droptop Spyder models add a whopping $25,000 to the base price. Power comes from a 5.2-liter V10 shared with the Audi R8. It produces between 550 and 570 horsepower, depending on the model choice.
