The Rolls-Royce Ghost is a full-size luxury sedan intended to rival the best from such upscale brands as Bentley and Mercedes-Benz. Based on the 7-Series luxury sedan from parent company BMW, the Ghost comes in two versions. The Ghost debuted in 2010, while Rolls-Royce added an extended-length EWB model for 2012.
All Ghost models use a 6.6-liter V12 that makes 563 horsepower and 575 lb-ft of torque. Although that engine is unrelated to the V12 used by BMW's 760Li luxury sedan, the Ghost and the 760Li share an 8-speed automatic transmission. They also share BMW's iDrive interface for vehicle controls.
The 2013 Rolls-Royce Ghost starts at nearly $258,000. The stretched EWB version adds more than $30,000 to the price, starting at just under $300,000. Despite the high prices, the Ghost is still far less expensive than the larger Rolls-Royce Phantom. That model starts around $400,000 with shipping.
