Movie premiers and automotive debuts don't usually go hand in hand, but Ford decided to add a distinctly Hollywood twist to the debut of the new 2015 Ford Mustang.

Red Carpet Affair

In 1927, Sid Grauman built the Chinese Theater at the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Highland Ave. Since then, the historic theater has hosted many red-carpet events, and it's still home to the set-in-stone handprints of many current and former big-screen stars. To keep the theme alive, Ford even had the new Mustang run its performance tires through a box of wet cement, thereby leaving the car's "handprints."

Powerful Engines

The new Mustang is set to go on sale in early 2015, and we're learning a few details about the car. We now know there will be three engine choices: a V6, a V8 and an EcoBoost turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 305 horsepower. The 3.7-liter V6 should be good for 300 hp, and the 5.0-liter V8 is expected to make 420 hp.

Power gets to the wheels through a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.

We also know a 2015 Mustang Convertible is on its way, but Ford did not show that at the car's Hollywood unveiling.

Historic Hollywood Mustangs

The Mustang's Chinese Theater appearance may seem odd at first, but this isn't the first time the Ford Mustang has had a starring role in a big-screen production. There's the mean Saleen cop car from "Transformers," the green fastback from "Bullitt," the one James Bond drove in "Diamonds Are Forever" and the ones featured in two different "Gone in 60 Seconds" films.

No word on the 2015 Ford Mustang's price, but we expect it to start in the low to mid $20,000 range for a base V6 coupe and go all the way up to $40,000 for a loaded Mustang GT convertible.
