We took the top 10 most popular cars and trucks of 2014 and decided to put each one through the military discount test. Most active-duty members and veterans know that there are incentives available for purchasing a new car, but almost all are unaware of the different affiliations that these car manufacturers have with the companies that also offer car insurance or finance options. We'll review each military incentive program on each popular car to shine a light on who offers these programs.

One of the biggest hurdles when buying a new car is knowing the best time to purchase, as well as which company to finance the car through. For those going through a deployment cycle, for example, it would be better to go through an overseas buying program to get a better discount. Many finance companies that require some form of military-only membership also supply huge incentives, as you will see in the list below. When buying a new car, take your time and learn if the military organizations that you are currently affiliated with offer an additional discount or rebate. You may be pleasantly surprised! Additionally, be sure to always ask your local dealership if they will offer even more incentives to you; many local dealerships will.

Most car buyers do not make a decision to buy a brand-new car based solely on the fact that military incentives are being offered. It does help to understand which ones offer a discount, however, as well as the other organizations that may offer a bundled military incentive for the exact same vehicle make and model that you like. Automakers understand it's good business to show their patriotism by offering discounts, and many times the obvious path for purchasing a car is not the optimal one. For example, getting that new car financed through a military-related financial institution or credit union (as opposed to a regular bank) could save thousands off the sticker price, as well as a huge discount in the annual percentage rate of interest. Let's break down the discounts and rebates of each popular car or truck and determine which is the best military discount for you.
