We see a fair share of over-the-top, gaudy custom cars on AutoTrader. While there is no shortage of baller cars that are designed to grab attention, few cars around have been built to catch your eye for a good cause.
For sale right now on AutoTrader is a 2003 BMW 760Li that NFL star Chris Johnson had painted pink to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Johnson is a three time Pro-Bowl selectee and in 2009 he recorded the fifth most rushing yards in NFL history, carrying the ball for over 2,000 yards.
Johnson was signed to the Tennessee Titans in the first round of the 2008 draft. He has stayed with the team for his entire career so far, and at the beginning of this season Johnson signed a $53.5 million contract to stay with the team through 2016.
Every year in October, the NFL incorporates pink in its games to raise awareness for breast cancer. Teams, players and the league will host events or wearing pink items during the nationally televised games.
In 2009 Johnson had his 2003 BMW 760Li modified to fit the occasion. The car is sprayed in a custom pink pearl hue in order to raise awareness for breast cancer. The color is continued on the inside with pink suede inserts in the seats and a pink headliner installed above the driver's head.
The pink paint isn't the only custom work done on the NFL star's luxury cruiser. The car has been fitted with a set of 22-inch D'Vinci wheels, as well as chrome replacements for the grille and ornaments.
In 2003 the 760Li was BMW's top of the line. The car comes with a 6.0 liter, 438 horsepower V12 engine, and when the car rolled off of the showroom floor it had a starting price of over $110,000.
The dealer says the aftermarket upgrades set Johnson back at least another $10 grand, and that sounds fairly conservative to us.
Today the car is being listed for $22,995 which is well below the car's estimated KBB value.
