- The Bentley is painted Neptune Blue.
- Boxing promoter King was its last owner.
- It's available for $89,900 in Florida.
Few vehicles make a bigger splash on the road than a Bentley Continental GT finished in the luxury brand's highly unusual Neptune Blue paint scheme. But for drivers eager to stand out, this 2006 example is even more special than a typical bright blue Bentley thanks to its previous owner, the legendary boxing promoter Don King. It's now for sale on AutoTrader.com with an asking price of just $89,900.
Available at Airport Kia in Naples, Florida, this Continental GT stands out for more than just its blue exterior and celebrity ownership history. That's because the coupe also features an outlandish blue interior, which includes a blue dashboard, a blue steering wheel and blue diamond stitched leather seats. Clearly, someone who wanted a unique car ordered the Bentley, but that person wasn't Don King.
"Don King just owned it, but he wasn't the first owner," said Joe, the Internet director at Airport Kia. "The original owner bought it down here [in Florida], and King owned it in Vegas, where he lives. He traded it to us, and we shipped it back here."
The Bentley's CARFAX report is difficult to piece together, recording owners in Florida, Virginia and Nevada. But Joe says he has Nevada documents proving the famed boxing promoter owned the car, ending any question about who had it last. Considering King's net worth, which is estimated at well over $100 million, his decision to buy a used car may surprise some people, but not Joe.
"He really wanted this color, and it's impossible to find," said Joe, who noted that Bentley no longer offers it. "So he had to buy it used."
Famous for promoting such boxers as Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, King drove the car only sparingly, adding just 1,500 miles to its odometer during the year and a half he owned it. That surprises us, since the bright blue car certainly fits King's boisterous personality and wild hairstyle. But it's possible that at 81 years old, the promoter is finally hanging up the gloves to drive a luxury car with a little less flair.
What it means to you: While some Bentley owners enjoy the understated elegance that comes with their ultra-luxury cars, drivers looking to stand out will appreciate this Neptune Blue 2006 Continental GT formerly owned by Don King.
