The 2010 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan along with the coupe and convertible iterations of the 2010 to 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class have all become subject to a recall. The company has informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that these cars may suffer a steering failure because of a possible leak of fluid from the power assistance system. This may be more evident whenever maximum steering lock is required in low-speed situations, such as a parking lot.
The number of cars at risk amounts to around 85,000. Owners will soon be contacted by their local dealer who will check and re-torque the connection free of charge. The Mercedes-Benz customer service telephone number is 1 800 367-6372. The NHTSA vehicle safety hotline is 1 888 327-4236. Its website is www.safercar.gov and the administration’s campaign identification number for this recall is 10V459000.
