The 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera is one heck of a sports car available in a variety of configurations and body styles. Buyers can choose between a hardtop Coupe, a Convertible Cabriolet or a Targa with a sliding glass roof. Engines range from a 320 horsepower 3.6-liter flat 6-cylinder to a whopping 456 horsepower 3.6-liter turbocharged flat 6-cylinder. Porsche’s upcoming 911 Targa will be radically different from all other Targas built before. Unlike older models, the new Targa will get a glass roof from front to rear, a roof which will open electrically and slide over the rear window. There’s no longer any removable roof panel.

The all-glass, Panorama-style roof has compelled Porsche to make a few exterior modifications. The windshield is a bit higher and the rear side windows a bit sharper-edged, in contrast to the more rounded versions found on other 911 models. Under the hood, though, nothing will be changed. The Targa will be powered by Porsche’s 300-hp, 3.4-liter flat six-cylinder engine. We don’t expect the GT3, the Turbo or future Turbo-look models to be available in this Targa configuration.

Porsche Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Certified Pre-Owned Warranty To be eligible for Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) status, vehicles generally must be recent models with relatively low mileage. CPO vehicles must also pass a detailed inspection, outlined by the manufacturer, which is measured by the number of inspected points. Warranty coverage can vary from one manufacturer to the next. While most certified pre-owned programs transfer and extend the existing new car warranty terms, others offer a warranty that simply represents an additional year and mileage value. Always check with the manufacturer for the specific warranties they offer. The Porsche Approved Certified Pre-owned Limited Warranty offers full peace of mind. Porsche Cars NA will repair or replace with new or remanufactured part any factory installed part that is faulty in material or workmanship under normal use.
