The 2007 Lotus Exige is the ultimate in light-car performance, with unparalleled handling and an exhilarating driving experience. While it doesn't carry many comfort features or have much in the way of cargo space, it will carry two people very, very quickly. Its $59,890 base price may be more than $13,600 over the base Elise, but it's still a tremendous amount of performance for the money.
For 2007, Lotus addressed what most buyers thought was the sole weakness of the Exige--that 190 horsepower was not enough. They added a supercharger to the engine, and now it now makes 220 horsepower and 165 ft-lbs of torque. Since the 2007 model is more powerful, Lotus added an 'S' to the name. Otherwise the 2007 Exige is unchanged from the previous year.
The Lotus Exige was introduced in 2006 as a hard-top version of Elise. It carries many of the best features of the Elise, such as the all-aluminum chassis, and the feather-light design. Weighing in at 2,077 lbs, the Exige is one of the lightest closed cars available.
