All new for 2007, the Aura is a four-door five-passenger mid-size family sedan thats offered in either XE, XR, or Green Line trim levels. The XE features a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 224 horsepower, with the XR offering a 3.6-liter V6 that increases the output to 252. Both come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Green Line is a hybrid version of the Aura which combines a 2.4L four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for improved fuel economy.
The much-lauded new Aura line stands out from mid-size competitors like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord because of its European-influenced styling inside and out, and for its interior design and materials. The base XE stands out for its generous standard features and affordable entry price, while the Green Line is priced only $1700 higher, and stands as the lowest-priced hybrid vehicle available in the U.S. market for 2007. The top XR brings more sport sedan appeal while still costing less than $25,000.
The Saturn Aura is an all-new mid-size sedan for 2007, replacing the L-Series. The Aura boasts more design-savvy appeal than the plainly styled L-Series, with a contemporary appearance and premium interior features, while the new Green Line model boasts an impressive EPA fuel economy figure of 35 mpg highway. The top Aura XR features a new six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-positioned paddles. Unlike former Saturn models, the Aura is a steel-bodied car and does not have the plastic body panels that were originally a selling point for Saturns.
Two models are offered for the standard 2007 Saturn Aura. The base XE model comes with a 3.5L pushrod V6, which makes 224 horsepower and is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The uplevel, sporty XR gets a 252-horsepower, 3.6L DOHC V6 with a new six-speed automatic featuring TAPshift paddles, positioned next to the steering wheel, which allow the driver to easily select shifts manually.
