Priced just under $15,000, the well-built SX4 is the most affordable all-wheel-drive vehicle for sale in the U.S. Suzuki also offers one of the best warranties with fully transferable coverage of 100,000 miles or seven years on powertrain components. Plus, the hatchback body style makes the SX4 especially versatile for hauling people or cargo.
The Suzuki SX4, which replaces the Aerio hatchback for 2007, is a small five-door hatchback with rugged, sporty styling cues, standard all-wheel drive, a more economical 2.0L engine, and a wide range of standard features at a low price. A four-door variant will follow for 2008, replacing the remaining Aerio sedan models.
Suzuki debuts the SX4 for 2007, and it has a new 143-horsepower 2.0L DOHC four-cylinder engine hooked up to either a five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic. The standard all-wheel drive system features three different operating modes, each selectable with a center-console switch. 2WD mode sends the power to the front wheels, allowing maximum fuel economy; AWD Auto sends between zero and 50 percent of power to the rear wheels as needed; and AWD Lock sends between 30 and 50 percent of power to the rear wheels, for use at low speed in snow or mud.
