A carry-over from 2006, the V50 is a four-door five-passenger sport wagon offered in the 2.4-liter I5 that produces 168 horsepower, or the turbocharged version that increases the power to 218 (available in all-wheel-drive). A six-speed manual transmission is standard with a five-speed automatic as an option.
Volvo's S40 sedan and V50 wagon offer fashionable styling and sporty handling for 2007, combined with available all-wheel drive and Volvo's expected emphasis on safety. A long list of options and packages are available on these models, which can help push the vehicle into ultra-luxury territory. The modestly equipped 2.4i poses an especially strong value.
Volvo's compact S40 sedan and closely related V50 wagon get a streamlined array of options and packages for 2007, along with revised equipment and some new standard features. Volvo's dynamic stability traction control (DSTC) is now standard on all models, while sporty T5 models now get a standard five-speed Geartronic automatic transmission. A redesigned overhead console is now standard, Sirius satellite radio is a new option, and an auxiliary input and MP3 capability are now available. Other new options include Keyless Drive and a couple of distinctive 17-inch alloy wheel designs. A new Body Styling Package is available in all colors except Electric Silver, and there's also a new color, Titanium Grey, which replaces Flint Gray.
The 2007 Volvo S40 sedan and its nearly identically equipped wagon version, the V50, come in two primary versions, the sporty 2.4i or the high-performance, more luxurious T5. The 2.4i models have a 168-horsepower, 2.4L inline five-cylinder engine, while the sporty T5 models step up to a 218-horsepower, 2.5L turbocharged inline five. T5 models are available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD), while all 2.4i models have front-wheel drive. The front-wheel-drive T5s come only with automatic transmission, but 2.4i and T5 AWD models can have either a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. The automatic has a Geartronic function that allows manual selection of gears besides the standard automatic mode.
