2008 Bentley Continental Sedan

Summary

Provided by NADAguides.com

The 2008 Bentley Continental Flying Spur is a refined, beautiful and powerful four door Sedan probably one of the fastest, if not THE fastest four door Sedan you can buy. Under the hood, it features a hefty 552 horsepower 6.0-liter gas-powered W12 that generates 479 lbs-ft of torque mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift capabilities as standard. Inside, the Flying Spur is extremely luxurious and spacious, with ultra fine leather and wood trim, Satellite radio and a B-shaped brake pedal for "Bentley, with fold-down rear tables and DVD entertainment.

Benefits of Driving a 2008 Bentley Continental Sedan

The 2008 Flying Spur, part of Bentley's family of more modern-looking and sleekly styled Continental models is, perhaps to sum it up best, an exclusive, sporty luxury sedan fit for the rich and famous who prefer to drive themselves. The tremendous detail and craftsmanship inside is what separates the Flying Spur from some luxury sedans from Mercedes-Benz or Lexus that cost quite a bit less. The value for the Flying Spur is in that, plus its exclusivity and its astounding comfort for long trips. In addition, the Flying Spur is one of the fastest sedans in the world in terms of top speed.

What's new for 2008?

For 2008, Bentley's Continental Flying Spur gets a number of standard-equipment upgrades, along with several new optional features and colors. The electronic stability control system now has a Sport Traction mode, Bluetooth hands-free calling functionality has been improved with new dialing features and expanded cell phone compatibility, and a new thin-film driver-information panel are all standard, along with a new Breitling timepiece and Sirius satellite radio compatibility. A three-spoke steering-wheel design is newly available.

Model Strengths

  • Overall performance
  • mix of modern exterior with traditional luxury
  • interior comfort
  • distinctive interior materials
  • exclusivity relative to 'mainstream' luxury brands.

Model Review

The 2008 Bentley Continental Flying Spur is powered by a 6.0L aluminum-alloy, twin-turbo W12 engine--a unique V12 design that actually has four cylinder banks and a very compact overall design for a twelve-cylinder engine. It makes 551 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, which is enough to accelerate to 60 mph in only 4.9 seconds and to a top speed of 195 mph--making it one of the fastest sedans in the world. All Flying Spurs also get a full-time all-wheel drive system to deliver the power smoothly, through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Flash Drive: 2008 Bentley Continental GTC

Source: MSN Autos

Finished in St. James Red with Beluga Black interior and contrasting red stitching, the Bentley Continental GTC is ultra-luxury in the grand touring style - but with a sporty attitude. This 2-door convertible is a big, heavy car, but the massive power from the twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 instantly makes it feel smaller. Step on the throttle and it delivers instant thrust, and will push the car to triple-digit speeds in just a few seconds. Equipped with the Mulliner Driving Specification (an $8,900 sport package), the Continental GTC feels remarkably nimble and quick. If you prefer a little anonymity in your life, the Continental GTC is the wrong car for you. - Mike Meredith

The style and visual panache of the older Continental R - sold as recently as 2002 - has been lost to make room for the enormous new W12 engine. The engine is tall, so although the Continental is no bigger than a Toyota Camry, it feels enormous. In terms of power, the 6.0-liter engine is a mountain. It's smooth, and nearly 500 lb-ft of torque can accelerate this massive vehicle seemingly without effort. The revs build quietly and slowly but the speed just pours on. Though swift, the interior is what this car is all about. Although the dashboard is high (again, because of that engine), the materials are gorgeous and the style is fantastic. With an interior this beautiful, it's no surprise that the Continental GTC looks best with the top down so everyone can see it. It might even be worth all $193,900. - Paul Hagger

If you're willing to spend $200K on a new car, chances are you want people to notice - top up or down, the GTC doesn't disappoint. The interior is stunning, with polished walnut and plush leather seats featuring red stitching and a flying red "B" embossed on the seatbacks. Double-pane windows and a fully lined top keep the interior whisper quiet even at highway speeds, but with the top down you get to hear the wonderful exhaust note generated by the 552-horsepower W12 engine. With full-time all-wheel drive, the GTC can take full advantage of that power. Plant your right foot and the 5,500-lb machine leaps off the line with a roar. Steering is precise and handling is good - this Bentley truly is a joy to drive. That is, as long as you ignore the trip computer. My heavy right foot resulted in an average of 9 mpg. - Perry Stern

Original Warranty  help
Original Warranty
An original warranty is the warranty associated with a vehicle when it is brand new. In addition to the original warranty, select items, like tires, are typically covered by respective manufacturers. Also, an act of Federal law sometimes provides protection for certain components, like emissions equipment.
The original warranty is often broken down into multiple sections, including:
Basic Warranty:
Typically covers everything except for parts that wear out through normal use of the vehicle. Examples of non-covered items are brake pads, wiper blades and filters.
Drivetrain Warranty:
This warranty covers items the basic warranty does not protect. Wear and tear items such as hoses will not be covered, but key items like the engine, transmission, drive axles and driveshaft often will be.
Roadside Assistance:
The level of service differs greatly with this warranty, but many manufacturers offer a toll-free number that helps provide assistance in case you run out of gas, get a flat tire or lock your keys in the car.
Corrosion Warranty:
This warranty focuses on protecting you from holes caused by rust or corrosion in your vehicle's sheet metal.
Please check the owner's manual, visit a local dealership or look at the manufacturer's website to learn more about the specifics of the warranties that apply to a vehicle.
