The 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 remains virtually unchanged this model year, but that doesnt mean buyers have limited choices. The GMC Sierra 1500 comes in a variety of configurations, including Regular, Extended and Crew Cab body styles, two or four wheel drive and various bed sizes. Engines for the GMC Sierra 1500 range from a 195 horsepower 4.3-liter to a 315 horsepower 5.3-liter. The Sierra 1500 comes equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, keyless entry, power accessories, lumbar seats, AM/FM/CD/MP3/Satellite audio, ABS brakes and daytime running lights.
The 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 is a half-ton pickup for those who really work their truck. There is an enormous selection of cabin, bed, and engine sizes, in addition to a range of trim levels and load capabilities from which to choose. GM claims their 1500 pickups have the highest tow rating among light-duty trucks (up to 10,500 pounds), and class-leading V8 fuel economy of up to 20 mpg, which make the Sierra very competitive in its segment.
The GMC Sierra 1500, which was completely redesigned a year ago, sees little variation for the 2008 model year. The color palate has a few new choices, six-way power seat adjusters are available on SLE trim, and satellite radio is standard across the board. The uplevel LTZ trim no longer includes a universal home remote or rain-sensing windshield wipers.
The most striking feature of the 2008 Sierra 1500, which GMC completely redesigned a year ago, is the interior. The new cabin offered on the top SLT trim is similar to that currently offered on GM's full-size sport-utility vehicles such as the GMC Yukon and offers standard luxury features like power heated front leather seats, six-disc CD/MP3-capable audio system, satellite radio, and heated windshield washers, while top crew cab SLT models add rain-sensing wipers and a rear-seat audio system. LTZ models are further differentiated by a completely different instrument panel and door panels, a huge, 20.1-liter center console storage area, and upgraded five-liter glove box. Ultrasonic rear parking assist is available.
