The 2008 Kia Sportage, which is mechanically similar to the Hyundai Tucson, ranks extremely high for value, with an impressive list of standard features--especially safety-related ones--considering its low base price. Ride quality is good, the interior is very versatile, and it's also surprisingly roomy. Frugality is a strong point that extends to day-to-day operation, as its four-cylinder's fuel efficiency ranks high as well.
The Kia Sportage carries over to the 2008 model year unchanged.
Kia's Tucson is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive variants for 2008, and can be powered by either a 140-horsepower, 2.0L four-cylinder engine or a 173-horsepower, 2.7L V6. The four-cylinder engine can be paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission, while the V6 comes only with a four-speed automatic.
